Global Learning
Taking our curriculum global
Learning within our localised curriculum is an authentic way to spark interest, understanding and context for our tamariki.
At Rotorua Primary we wanted to take the next step and make the context global - take who we are and what we see and explore that in the wider world.
We started our global learning journey in 2019. We collaborated with I'olani School in Hawaii to set up a student exchange program through Te Hekenga-ā-Rangi (Descendants from the Skies), our transpacific iPad collaboration to connect indigenous learning communities across the Polynesian Triangle.
Building on our school exchange program we created School Tours - a bi-annual tour that takes students, teachers and whānau beyond the school gates to experience learning together, to showcase what life beyond Rotorua can be and how as learners we can aim globally to make an impact.
